ENTERTAINMENTS.

EMPIRE LIVING PICTURES. On Monday night the above company again produced a fine programme in the presence of a large and appreciative audience. The pictures shown were, as usual, of a high class order, and were thoroughy enjoyed by all present. On Monday evening next, the management announces something special, having secured the great picture, "Semiramus, Queen 0? Babylon," which drew such crowded houses in Auckland a few weeks ago. It is said to be one of the finest coloured pieces of cinematography produced by Pathe Freres, the different scenes shown being of the most dazzling beauty. An advertisement appears in another column to-day.

PATRIOTIC CONCERT

In connection with his work of organising the Territorials and arousing interest in the great cause of National Defence, Colonel Allen Bell, the founder of the national training movement in Nuw Zealand, has made arrangement for his military concert party, which did such good work in building up the.2nd Regiment, to tour the South Auckland district. The party will appear at Te Kuiti on Wednesday, Bth March, when a choice programme of patriotic songs will be submitted. During the concert short addresses on National Defence will be delivered by well-known leaders in the movement, and at the conclusion of the concert members will be enrolled for the local Territorial forces. The concert party is a strong one, and comprises such well-known Auckland and Waikato artistes as Mrs Jowitt (champion lady elocutionist), Mrs Bellini, Mrs Jenkins, Miss Williams, Messrs H. S. Milner, A. G. Shand, C. R. Rees, Macbeth and other prize-winners at the Auckland and Waikato musical competitions. The concert will be given under the patronage of his Worship the Mayor, who is a great enthusiast in the cause of National Defence.
