LAWN TENNIS.
On Saturday last a match was played on the local courts between teams representing Hamilton and Te Kuiti. Eight men were played on each side. Singles and doubles only were played, as, unfortunately, the visitors did not bring any lady players xvvith them. This was vegrettable, a* the local club is particularly strong in\ady players. The matches resulted as fbllows, the Hamilton players being mentioned first in each case:--SINGLES.— Best of 17 games.— James \ 9 v. Bartleman7; Shand 4 v. Kelso 9; Dodson 9 v. C. Matthew S; Cavanagh 9 v. Howarth 8; Luxford 9 v. H. Matthew 3; McGuire 9 v. Morgan 4; Farrer 9 v. Falwasser 2; Kent 9 v. Luijisden (J. DOUBLES.—Best of 21 games.— James fend Shand 5 v. Kelso and Bartleman/ll ; Dodson and McGuire 7v. I C. MatAhew and Howarth 11; Cava- ; nagh /and Luxford 11 v. Falwasser ; and H. Matthew 6; Kent and Farrer 11 v. /Morgan and Lumsden 7. Matches. Hamilton 9, Te Kuiti 3. Games.—Hamilton 101, Te Kuiti 82. ; In the evening a smoke concert was held, when songs, recitations and speeches were given, a most enjoyable* evening being spent.
