I AUCKLAND WOOL SALES. | At the final wool sals 2000 bales were offered, and prices were well up I to the previous sale, considering the quality of the wool. in several instances lines passed at last sale realised higher figures, in some cases LJd per lb more. LONDON MARKETS. Mesrss Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Hamilton, are in receipt of the following cable from their London office, under date 9th inst.:— Butter- -Rather more enquiry; prices unchanged except that the Copenhagen official quotation is three kroner higher. Quotations: Australian, first-class, superfine, 112s; Danish, 120s. The Farmers' Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: At Hikutaia on February 6th, we had an entry of 360 head of cattle and 150 sheep and a good enquiry existed for all classes. Practically a clearance was effected. Prices: —Fat steers £7 15s to £3 7s, fat cows £5 5s to £6 7s Gd, forward 3 year steers £5 5s to £5 15s, forward cows £3 15s to £4 10s, fifteen to eighteen months heifers £3 5s to £3 19s, good calves 33s to 425, smaller sorts 20s to 255, fat lambs 12s fat ewes 12s to 12s, dairy cows £5 5s to £B, bulls £2 10s to £4 10s. !
On Thursday, 9th February, we held a clearing sale at Komata, Paeroa, on behalf of Messrs Hubbard Bros., when there was a large attendance of neighbouring settlers. All the stock was in good order and competition was brisk throughout. Prices: —Yearlings draughts, medium £9 to £l2, 2 year olds £l2 to £l9, 3 year olds £25 to £3l, mares and foals £2O to £44 10s, two draught stallions 40 to 58 guineas, fat cows £6 10s fat and forward cows £4 12s 6d choice dairy heifers (2 years old) £4 15s to £5 15s, two and a half year steers in good condition £5 2s to £5 10s, eighteen months steers £3 5s to £3 17s, implements and sundries at usual rates.
At Waihou on Friday, 10th February, the yarding consisted of 473 head of cattle, SSO sheep, and 139 pigs. Fat cattle sold well, sheep and store cattle were easier. Prime fat ewes lis 9d to 13s 9d, old ewes 93 to 10s 6d, fat wethers 17s, fat lambs 12s 4d to 13s, store lambs Gs to 8s 6d, cull lambs ss, 2 tooth ewes 14s, Shropshire ram 3 £2 2s, weaner pigs 6s to 14s, slips 25s to 275, prime fat heifers £5 15s to £6 15s, heavy fat cows £6 to £6 10s, medium weights cows £4 15s to £5 ss, bulls £2 10a to £4 12s 6d, fresh cows £3 to £3 15s, fifteen months steers £2 16s, good calves 30s to 37s 6d, small calves 20s to 255.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Auckland, report:— We held our weekly sale of hides, skins ,tallow, etc., on Tuesday, 7th inst., clearing a large catalogue:— Hides—Market firm. Extra stout ox at Bd. stout 7d to 7id, medium 6id to 6d, light 6Jd to Bgd, cow, best lines to 6id, good 6d to 6id, inferior 4 Ad to 5Jd," stags 4Ad to sd, kips 6d to (jjd, calf, best B£d~ good 7£d to Bd, cut and damaged hides 3|d to sd. Sheepskins—Market firm. Best butchers' lambs' pelts Is 6d to Is lid, seconds Is to Is 4d, dry skins, large to 6s 6d. Tallow—Market firm. Best mixed 29s 6d, good 28s, medium 23s 6d to 255, rough fat l|d to l£d per lb. Cow Tails—ls 8d per dozen. Horse hair —ls 4d to Is 7d. Bones—Good dry £4 15s per ton. We held our monthly stock sale in the Te Awamutu yards on Saturday, 11th inst., when a small yarding came forward. Bidding was brisk considering the dry weather, and we were successful in disposing of almost all the lines. We quote —Fat cows £7, fat heifers £4 10s, 2 year heifers £5 lis. heifers in calf £3 15s to £4 ss, yearling heifers £2 10s, calves 303 6d to 445, bulls £3, springing heifers £5 ss. We held our tri-weekly stock sale in the Hamilton yards on Thursday, 9th inst., when we yarded 291 head of cattle, 579 sheep and 50 pigs. On account of the dry weather, bidding under the hammer was not quite so brisk for sheep and grown cattle, but calves and young cattle sold to full market valines. We were, however, successful in disposing privately of most of the lines that were passed in, with the exception of pigs, which ' were dull of sale. We quote—Fat wethers His 3d, fat ewes lis 9cl to 12s (id, fat ewes and wethers mixed 13s to 14s 6d, fat lambs lis 3d to 12s 6d, fat cows £4 10s to £5 12s, store cows £2 10s, IS month heifers £3 14s to £4 3s, heifers in calf £3 10s, calves 27a (id to 41s, springing heifers £4 10s to £5 10s, springing cows £6, Jersey bulls £0 6s.
