McKenize said he did not think the drop in Waihi shares would be detrimental to mining generally throughout the Dominion, although it might affect the Waihi mines for a time. The Minister expressed himself convinced that great progress was being made in Waikato and the North generally, necessitating the expenditure of money on roads, bridges, railways, and public buildings. He was certain progressive settlement was going on rapidly.
