The fourth wool sale of this season's series was held on Thursday morning, : when there were 4472 bales offered. There were a number of new clips in the catalogues, but a good deal of the wool offered had been passed in at the previous sale. There was a large attendance of buyers, and the sale had a much brisker tone than the last one and competition at times was very keen. Merino wool showed a decline, as the local woollen mills were not oeprating very actively, and ths reserves were beyond the limits of outside buyers. There was no superhalfbred offered, but medium halfbred and crossbred was well competed for, and in soma cases sold at Ad more than was offered at the last sale. There was also a good demand for pieces. A proportion of the wool passed in was not nearly so large as the previous sale, except in the case of merinos. The range price obtained was:— (Imny merino <i.|d to 'J.td, medium halfbred lud to 11 .Id, inferior GAci to <J ; ;d, Corriedale TAd to 10|d, threequarter bred r.kl to !Ud, medium crossbred Hd to !>Ad, inferior ful to 7.1 d, long wool (Id to Si!, Down woo! 7*d to 9[d, merino pieces -l;d to ( Jd. best j halfbred pieces SUI to lOjd, second pieces :>d to SUI, crossbred pieces yd, u, i;:..l locks 2d to Okl. |
