The heart of London, that region about the Hank of England and the Royal Exchange which has been dubbed "the financial hub of the world," stands in what is the strangest parish in the city. There is in this parish no church, no municipal oflice, and, it is said, but one inhabitant;.vet its value in the parochial and official sense is equal to that of many another parish in the British Metropolis, with its thousands of taxpayers. This is the parish of St. C'hristopher-le-Stoeks, Some seven hundred years ago it was founded, no j one knows exactly how or by whom, j and is still existent with all its rights : and dignities. j I Gray, the marvellous boy billiard , player, has one great natural advantage for his profession particularly long hands. He can twist them into i extraordinary positions. One of his j little mannerisms is to shake his one j hand in rapid, nervous jerks before every stroke. i
