NEW SAWMILL AT WAIMIHA.
SEVEN YEARS' CUTTING. Another new sawmill has been added to the list already operating in the King Country. About a mile and a-quarter from Waimiha a new mill has been erected by Messrs Park Bros, on the property of Messrs Mair, Stops and Co. The machinery is all new, and the plant is capable of turning out 30,000 feet of timber per week. There are, it is estimated, 7,000,000 feet of timber in the bush comprised of riinu, matai and totara. The former kind is mo3t abundant and is of a particularly good kind. The manager informed me that they had seven years cutting, and that a market for their timber had been arranged for some time ahead. Care would be taken to supply local requirements a3 well. A tramway for about threequarters of a mile is at present being constructed from the mill to the bush. The timber being cut at present shows signs of careful workmanship and a continuance of such a fine article will no doubt command a ready sale on the market. ,
