In connection with the question of rating the Convent, the authorities of St. Patrick's Church, Palmerston North, claim a refund of rates paid last year to the Borough Council, amounting to £-10, and also decline to pay similar rates this year. The ground of refusal is the recent decision of the Appeal Court in a Christchurch case, that convents are immune from rating under the Act.
