' Engineer's Report. —-The contract I for widening a portion of the Raui mauku road will be completed this ; week, and a good deal of widening ; has also been done by day labour. I There are 22 sets of pipes to go in, , which are all on the ground and will ' be put in as soon as the necessary labour can be obtained. On the Tapuae road a considerable amount of widening has been done, both by contract and d.iy labour. I have had ' the bridge across the Mangarama ; stream on Te Kuiti-Awakino road redecked, and two surface men are em- ; ployed clearing out the water tables. Two or three yards of metal are re- ; quired for tilling in a few very bad ruts, which 1 will have attended to ! at once. -The decking of a culvert on : the Waiteti road was very unsafe, so I had the timber sent out to re-deck it, which the settlers will place in position. several small works, prin- ■ cipally repairs have been done at Aria. I prepared plans and specifications for widening the portion of the Pukearuhe road proposed to be metalled, and forwarded them to the Public Works Department for approval. I i have also prepared specifications for I metalling on the Hauturu-Otorohanga and Otorohanga-Pirongia roads. The i engineering survey for forming part of the Owaikura road has been made and I will prepare the plans and specifications a3 soon as possible. Tenders were called for a contract on the Arapae road, which closed last ; Saturday.
