CHRISTMAS HOSPITAL FUND.

Mrs Graham and Mr Valder interviewed the Waikato Charitable Aid Board at its last meeting, to inform the Board that, after purchasing the usual Christmas luxuries, for which the Mrs W. A. Graham's one shilling Hospital fund was instituted, there remained the substantial sum of £6B lis lOd, which Mr.s Graham was willing to hand to the Board in order that the Hospital might get the benefit of the Government subsidy of 24s in the £, which would bring the amount up to £lso' ISs, provided that the amount was expended on articles outside the ordinary expenses of the Hospital that would make for the extra comfort of the inmates. The Board agreed that the amount should be expended in the direction indicated, provided that the doctor and matron were consulted before the purchases were made, and it was arranged that this be done. The Board passed a hearty vote of thanks to Mrs Graham for her efforts in providing good cheer for the invalids during the festive season. The inmates of the Old Men's Home were also remembered. The following is a balance-sheet of the fund:—

Duncan (Waikato Miners' Union, Huntly) £l4 7s lid, Mrs Bollard, Tamahere £2 2s, Mrs Goldwater, Te Aroha £3 7s, Mrs Allen Bell, Te Kapa 14s Gd, Misses Doris Smith and B. Hiney (Hamilton Hotel) £46 12s, Mr Norden (Commercial Hotel) £7, Misses Melville and McGregor £1 lis, Miss Reeve, Mrs F. 11. Sims and Mr Walsh (Te Kuiti) £5 Is, Ellis and Burnand's factory employees £2 12s, Taupo Totara Go's employees (Mokai and Putaruru) £4, Innes and Go's, employees £1 Its, total £96 14s lid; grand total £lO7 6s 9d. Expenditure —To purchase of --Dressing jackets, shirts, sox, ties, handkerchiefs, toilet boxes, fans, books, pipes, tobacco, dolls, toys, fruit, sweets, cakes, invalid and children's chairs, etc., £BB lis lid; balance in bank £6B lis lOd. The following contributions were also made: —Mrs Spain, 3 dressing jackets; Mr Hall parcel of ties and ribbns; cosy corner, parcel of ribbons; Mr E. Jones, labels; Dalgleish and McDonald, cartage of goods to hospital. Thanks are due to all those who kindly took charge of the lists and special mention should be made of Misses Doris Smith and B. Hiney, of the Hamilton Hotel, who, between them, collected the large amount of £46 12s.
