EMPIRE LIVING PICTURES
The Empire Picture Company will give another of their enjoyable exhibitions at Te Kuiti Town Hall on Monday evening next. The weekly visits of "this company are now quite looked forward to with interest by the residents of Te Kuiti. Last Monday night the programme put on was a splendid one, the large audience being more than pleased with the liberal fare provded, and the way thepiictures were screened On Monday night we are assured that the programme will be even better than anything yet at tempted. Among the star items to be shown will be a splendid picture of the last Melbourne Cup, run in November, and wen by Comedy King. Flemingtcn, on Cup Day, is the rendevouz of thousands from all parts of the world where the best-dressed ladies, and the best-groomed men love to assemble. It will be shown on Monday night, in all its splendour. The race for the Cup \va3 one of the most exciting in the annals of Cap contests, and we are told that the picture is one of the be3t. Another item is a true story in the life of the celebrated actress. Helen Dare, entitled "Shadow and Sunshine." It depicts the life of a kind-hearted old actor, when the now great actress was struggling with poverty, befriended her, but w'ho, through sclcr.ess some years later, is himself reduced to want and privation, and in that state is discovered by Miss Dare, and made comfortable for the rest of his days. It is a beautiful subject and abounds in lovely situations. The scenic pictures wiil be particularly good. "A Trip Through the Andes," showing the lovely mountains that separate the Argentine from Chili, the highest of which is 23,000 feet, a panorama of the Andes ranges, "The Statue of Christ," etc., all helping to make a magnificent picture. "The Swedish Alps,'" with a novelty in the way of a frozen waterfall, will also be shown. There are many other items, including the world's champion wrestlers giving exhibitions,, a splendid picture; "Mazeppa," a stirring drama of Western life; "Seal Catching in Tasmania," and a batch of others, which space precludes us from reviewing. The comics- there are four —are all irresistably funny; in fact, the programme is full of good things, and patrons on Monday night are assured of a splendid exhibition. There should certainly be another crowded house.
