WAIKATO HOSPITAL.

The Waikato Hospital Board, at its meeting on Thursday, passed a resolution protesting against being compelled to administer and maintain the cottage hospital at Rotorua. The opinion was expressed that the Board was being forced into an unfair position. A deputation representing friendly societies requested preferential fees for members. The matter will be considered at a future meeting. The shilling hospital fund this year amounted to £lO6, to which is added last year's balance of £lO. Of the total £OB has already been spent. The subscribers wished the amount, with subsidy, totalling £l7O, spent upon goods and furniture for the comfort and convenience of patients. The Board agreed, providing the money is handed over unreservedly, and will endeavour to carry out the wishes expressed as far as is legally possible.
