Within the first three months of t! e present year 1,870,896 acres of Crown land will be opened for settlement by the Lands Department, of which a million and a-quarter acres are in Canterbury, and 32,007 in Auckland, and include 5222 acres of Hauraki Plains land. In addition to the above area one and a-half million acres are already open and awaiting selection by the first applicant, including SIO,000 acres in the Auckland district.
