LETTERS "MERE BLUFF." By Telegraph—Pres; Association.—Copyrignt Received Decembre 21, 10.30 a.m. London, Yesterday. Mr W. F. Lund, managing director of the Lund Line, cross-examined at the Waratah enquiry, said Captain Übery never seriously complained that the Waratah was iess stable than the Geelong. Counsel: Then your letters to the builders were mere bluff in order to press forward a settlement of demurrage? Witness: They were not serious letters. The gravity of the disaster had greatly affected his father's health. Five passengers gave evidence to the effect that they were alarmed at the vessel's top-heaviness, and discussed the matter with the officers. Another passenger said he had never sailed in a safer vessel. The hearing was adjourned until ■January 9 th.
