TE KUITI BOWLING AND CROQUET CLUB.

NOTES BY "KITTY." Christmas is a busy season with bowlers and those who have the time and the inclination can have bowling galore at any of the centres, HamiU ton, Te Aroha or Auckland, where tournaments are being held. The Auckland Provincial Association commences with the Champion Fours on December 27th. Pairs and Singles follow in that-order, and play will not be concluded until after the Mew Year. Te Aroha commences its Sth annual open tournament on January 2nd, and teams are entering from as far south as Wanganui. The local club will be represented, but the personel of the team is not yet definitely known.

Much to the disappointment of our "colts" the First Year Players' match has been struck out of the Provincial tournament this year, but a telegram from the secretary stated that in all probability the competition would be held in Auckland at Easter. It has been suggested that the local club hold an all-day competition of some kind on December 26th. Those players who are willing to take part are requested to write their names on the notice board at the pavilion, and if sufficient entries are received a very enjoyable little programme might be arranged. The heavy rains which set in on Thursday last have considerably freshened up the ground* which are looking at their best just now. The average bowler is a goodnatured individual and is willing at all times that fellow-bowlers should have the use of his bowls, but it is not too much to expect that they should be returned to his locker clean and ready for use again. Some members are complaning, and rightly so, that their bowls have been used on a damp green and then left lying about in the pavilion in a very dirty state. All borrowed bowls should be returned to thenrespective lockers, and if any cleaning is nceessary, the caretaker will, for the asking, supply wipers and oil.

The competition games are still going on, eleven have been played during the past week. The Singles match between Julian and Chilcott was full of excitement. Juilan was 5 up on the 18th head, but by good play Chilcott made a tie of it and in the play-off the latter scored a 2 which won him the game. Cochrane defeated Power in the Pairs after an exciting "go," but had his wings clipped by Petherick, who won by 5 up after a good tussle. Matthew still retains an unbeaten record in the Singles and has only two more games to play to complete his section. Since the above notes were written the undermentioned players have expressed th°.ir willingness to journey to Te Aroha and take part in the Open Fours on New Year's Day :—Spencer, Matthew, Cochrane and Power. It is more than likely that a second four will be got together under the leadership of Dransfield, so that there is every likelihood of the club being worthily represented. Competition Games.—Chilcott 19 v. Finlay 14; Finlay 27 v. Atkinson 10; Matthew 26 v. Sharpies 4; Hardy 22 v. Atkinson 14; Smith 27 v. Jordan 10; Chilcott 18 v. Julian 16; Matthew 43 v. Rosenberg 3; Lineham and Matthew 24 v. Julian and Porter 14; Lusk and Cochrane 17 v. King and Power 13; Rosenberg and Petherick 20 v. Lusk and Cochrane" 15; Stevens and Edgar 20 v.
