The British Elections.

STATE OF PARTIES. By Telearaph. l'res? Association. Copyright Ministerialists ... 351 Unionists ... ... 258 CONSERVATIVE WORKINC MEN. NONE ELECTED. MR ASQUITHS' RETORT. Received December 1(5, 9.50 p.m. London, Yesterday. None of the Unionists working men candidates have been elected. Mr Asquith, speaking at Retford, ridiculed the suggestion that the elections had proved inconclusive. "Are we to resign," he said, "when the constituencies have given us a majority of over a hundred? If so, who will carry on the King's Government?" He added: "Mr BalTour says it is a shocking thing that the Government is at the mercy of the Irish. We Liberals are perfectly capable of taking care of our own reputations and are not going to be coerced into any action which our consciences do not approve." Lord Selbourne, in a speech at St. Andrew's, referring to the Parliament Bill, said the Lords would not hesitate at any effort to defeat the Government's object. The Duke of Marlborough, speaking at Torbay, confidently predicted the Parliament Bill would never become law.
