Messrs Fisher and Fowlds gave a farewell dinner to Lord and Lady Gladstone and Lord De Villiers. There was a representative gathering. -Lord Gladstone said iie had been only too glad to show the visitor = all the attention they deserved as distinguished representatives of their respective Dominions.
Mr Fisher, in proposing the toast, ot the Union of South Africa, referred to the triumph achieved in creating the Union. The interests of Australia and New Zealand were now being linked with those of South Africa and took in their national questions. Ho returned thanks for the unbounded kindness shown them during their visit to South Africa. Genera llert/.og, representing Mr 13otha, declared that no visit was more welcome than that of the visitors, and dwelt on the need for the unification of the two while races.
