Mr Justice Iliggins delivered judgment in the Merchant Service Guild case and considered .£l5O a year the minimum necessary for an officer's salary and deducting £3O as the value of his keep that made £l2O a year. The minimum pay for fourth and fifth officers is fixed at £lO a month plus keep. Received December 6, 9. p.m. Sydney, Last Night. Mr Justice Iliggins met the representatives of the various parties in the Merchant Service Guild case to-day and discussed the question of an eighthour day in port, and a month's notice, which was brought up by the respondents. Nothing was decided and the case was adjourned for a week to Melbourne.
