•The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: — At Ohaupo, on November 29tb, we had a yarding of 757 head of cattle. Competition was good, prices were satisfactory to vendors, and the whole yarding was practically cleared. Fresh 4 year steers made £6 14s, store steers asme age £6 Is, fresh 3 and 3£ year steers £5 12s 6d, 2A to 3 year steers in good order £4 12s to £5 ss, 2 to 21 year steers £4 5s to £4 lis, fresh conditioned cows £4 to £4 10s, 2 year heifers £4 2s 6d to £4 10s, very good yearling steers £2 19s to £3 6s, others not so well done £2 12s 6d to £2 17s 6d, yearling heifers, best £3 to £3 ss, others £2 10s to £2 ss, a few fat cows £5 to £6 ss, bulls £4 to £6.
At Ngaruawahia on November 30th, we yarded 2005 head of cattle, and bad the best yarding and most successful sale of the season. Buyers were present from all neighbouring and many outside districts. The sale commenced at 11 a.m., and was concluded at 1.20 p.m., so bidding was fairly brisk, and prices were fully up to, if not better, than any sale we have held this spring. We quote:— Fat steers £8 2s to £8 17s, well bred 3i to 4 year steers £6 5s to £7 _ 4s, according to condition and breeding, 3 year steers very forward £6 9s to £7, 3 year steers in good store condition £5 10s to £6, 2* year steers £4 13s to £5 ss, 2 year steers £4 5s to £4 12s 6d, IS months steers £3 17s 6d to £4 2s. fid, best yearling to 15 month steers"£3 5s to £3 10s, smaller steers £2 12s 6d to £3, mixed yearlings £2 10s to £3, weaner calves 24s to 30s. With the exception of three head, all cattle sold at auction. Sheep: 2 tooth wethers made 12s lOd, 4 tooth wethers and fat ewes 14s 6d and 13s.
At Morrinsville on December Ist, we had a successful sale, prices for all classes of stock showing the same improvement as at our sale* earlier in the week. Entries totalled 371 fat sheep, 350 ewes with lambs, 70 fat cattle and 400 mixed store. Ewes in wool with lambs (all counted), made 10s, 10s 3d and 10s 6d; fat wethers (all fat sheep shorn) 15s to 17s 6d, fat ewes 14s to 14s Gd, fat lambs (shorn) 10s 6d, prime fat steers £9 10a to £ll, lighter weights £7 17s to £9, fat cows and heifers £4 153 to £6 ss, 2\ year steers £4 10s to £4 17s Gd, 3 year very plain steers £5 to £5 7s, 2 year stees £4 to £4 10s, 15 to 18 month steers £3 10s to £3 15s, dairy heifers £3 15s to £4 10s, Jersey and Holstein cross heifers 18 months, £5 15s, Jersey cross yearling heifers £4 6s, weaner calves 25s to 30s, springing heifers £5 7s 6d to £7 10s, good cows in milk £7 to £9 10s.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: — We held our usual tri-weekly sale at Hamilton on December Ist, when we yarded about 500 sheep and 105 head of cattle. There was a good attendance and satisfactory' prices were realised throughout. We quote: —Fat shorn wethers 18s, fat ewes 12s 9d to 14s. fat lambs 13s, woolly ewes with lambs 14s lid to 15s, fat heifers and cows £5 4s to £7 6s ; empty Jersey cows and heifers £5 to £5 Is, empty heifers £3 to £4 (ss, empty cows £4, yearlings 41s, calves pu to 30s, springers £3 17s 6d to £7, slips 15s to JBs, store pigs 21s 6d to 28s. At the Cambridge yards the following day there was a fair yarding of stock and a good sale resulted in nearly everything being disposed of under the hammer. The following prices were realised: —Forward 3 to 4 year steers from £5 10s to £6 17s, 2 to 2\ year steers £4 3s to £4 13s, empty cows £3 17s, yearlings £2 3s to £2 Ss, calves 18s 6d to 335, springers £4 Is to £6 10s, Berkshire sows 24s to 365, slips 12s 6d to 14s.
HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLE. The High Commissioner's cable, dated London, December 3rd, is as follows: — Mutton—The market is slightly weaker, with less demand. River Plate mutton is in large supply, but stocks of New Zealand mutton on hand are light, and firmly held in a few hands, on account of small shipments expected. Canterbury 4Jd, nominal, North Island 4d, River Plate 3£d. Lamb—The market is steady, owing to local demand, but buyers are not inclined to make forward purchases of lamb at present prices, as arrivals are likely to be heavy. Australian 5Jd. Bee?— The market; is weak, supplies of River Plate being heavy. New Zealard hinds 3gd, fores 22-d. Butter—The market is quiet, but steady for best quality only. The market is weak and inactive for second class quality. New Zealand 112s, Australian 108s, Danish 117s, Siberian 103s. Cheese—There is better demand, and the market is steady. Coloured 575. white 565. Hemp—The market is flat, and nothing whatever is doing. New Zealand good to fair, on snot, per ton £22, fair grade, £2O 10s, fair current Manila £l9 103, forward shipment about the same. The output from Manila for the week was 23,000 bales. Cocksfoot Seed The market is quiet, but holders are firm. Bright, clean New Zealand seed, weighing 171b to the bushel, 74s per cwt. Wool—The market is steady and prices well maintained.
