ihe Landgrave of Hesse is blind, and devoted to music. He always makes the Berkeley Hotel his headquarters when in London, and gives many charming parties there. His castle in Germany is a delightful place to stay at. Every one is made most comfortable. By a curious mediaeval arrangement all the servants of guests are boarded in the neighbouring villace. the castle gates being locked at midnight and re-opened early in the morning to allow them to return. The Landgrave is very fond of motoring, and his particular delight is to take guests on long drives in the beautiui country round the castie and have afternoon tea in the woods.
