Mangapehi.

CRICKET. On Sunday last the local eleven made a very enjoyable trip to Parikura, to play a return match with the club there. The latter players have greatly improved in form since we last met them, and an interesting game took place. The result was a win for Mangapehi by 67 runs. A very enjoyable social under the auspices of the local Cricket Club was held here on Friday last. Excellent music was supplied by Mr J. Hete.t, of Te Kuiti, and dancing was continued until 1.30 a.m. Messrs Buck and Hayson officiated as M.C's. The comfortable sum of £5 was taken at the door, and the balance over expenses will go to the funds of the local club. TENNIS.

A local combined tournament has just been completed, and resulted in a vvni for Education, viz.: Miss W. Johnson and Mr B. Hayson. Tile partners were drawn and then handicapped on form. Some close contests resulted. The two trophies played for were each valued at; about a guinea. Fifty points up were played, the results being: — First round.—Mrs Irvine and W. Tornlnison, receive 35, beat Mrs Sims and D. Seymour, receive 25, 50—45. Mrs Buck and M. Charteris, receive 35, beat Miss Tomlinson and H. Johnson, receive 15, 50—40. Miss W. Johnson and B. Hayson, scratch, beat Mrs Griffin and W. Young, receive 33, g j 50 —44. Miss McCracken and A. McCracken, receive 5, beat Mrs King and W. Buck, receive 15, 50 Mrs Petch and A. Worm, receive 35, beat Mrs Worm and P. Furber, receive 20, 50—40. Second round.--Mrs Buck and M. Charteris beat Mrs Petch and A. Worm, 50—46. Miss W. Johnson and B. Hayson, beat Miss McCracken and A. McCracken, 50'—43. Third Round. —Miss Johnson and B. Hayson beat Mrs Irvine and W. Tomlinson, 50 —-43. Final. —Miss Johnson and B. Hayson beat Mrs Buck and M. Charteirs, 50— 47.
