Kiritehere - Moeatoa.

The weather is beautifully fine at present. Shearing is in full swing and fleeces are reported to be of good average weight. A few settlers have already finished shearing and have their wool at Marakopa awaiting shipment. Miss Wouldes, of Kiritehere, met with a painful accident last Sunday week. While out riding, the horse on which she was mounted, bolted and threw her where there was a rough fascine on the road. She had one leg badly cut and received a severe shaking. She is progressing favourably. A few months ago settlers forwarded bonds guaranteeing the cost of erection of Te Kuiti-Mairoa telephone line to Marakopa. Nothing has been heard of the matter further than some time ago the work was authorised. This is a very important line and should not be delayed. There is no doubt but that when erected it will be a paying concern a! many settlers hope to be connected at the various offices alcng the route. The matter of the erection of the Kiritehere school has been referred to the Inspector to report on. Mr Burnside is due to arrive at any time.
