Mr Widdowson, S.M., gave judgment yesterday in a case .when a paintingrfirm, was charged with a breach of award in taking a youth into partnership, after unsuccessfully attempting to obtain an under rate permit and extra apprentices' permit. The Magistrate held the partnership was not bona fide, and fined defendants £3 and costs, saying but for the defendants being working painters the penalty would have been much heavier.
