Otorohanga.

The Otorohanga Cricket Club held a very succesful social in Turner's Hall on Thursday evening last. The hall was nicely decorated, and the floor was in splendid order, which, with the ladies' dresses, made quite a gay scene. Among others noticed was Mrs Lowe, net blouse and black silk skirt; Mrs S. Spencer, black taffeta; Miss Poulter, Empire white silk; Miss Hunter, blue and white striped voile; Mrs R. Orrrnby, white silk, Mrs Carlisle, white silk and scarlet roses; Miss Larsen, white voile; Miss Johnson, blue chiffon; Miss Lily Johnson, cream delaine, Mrs F. W. Whyte, white silk; Mrs M. Cowley, silk blouse and dark skirt; Mrs W. Hyde, cream and black skirt; Mrs 11. E. Brunton, striped silk Empire; Mrs R, T. Rhodes, blue chiffon; Miss Vicary. blue silk- Empire gown; Mrs G. Reynolds, blue chiffon; Miss Morrisey, blue muslin. Full credit is due to Mrs H. A. Burehell, the hon. secretary, also Messrs Jacobsen and Wesbury, who in an efficient manner, acted as M.C's. The music was rendered by Mrs Holden in her usual popular manner.

The following gentlemen have been nominated as officers for the Otorohanga Cricket Club, for the emuing season: —Patron, J. Ormsby; presi dent, F. E. Lowe; vice-presidents, Messrs F. W. Whyte, 11. E. Brunton, H. Burnand, D. Fraser, M. Cowley, W. Vicary, H. E. Kerr, L. Hunter, R. Green, F, H. Earl, A. Isaac; hon. secretary and treasurer, H. A. Burchell. It was decided to get material and put the pitch in order, and to issue an open invitation to play outside matches. Mr John Ormsby was thanked for the use of his ground, which has again been given for this season.

At a further meeting of the Boy Scouts, held on 26th October, Inspector Campbell gave the boys some details of Scout work and generally instructed them in Scout law. It was decided that the First Patrol be known as the "Curlew Patrol," the second patrol as the "Quail Patrol," consisting of Herewrini, patrol leader, B. H. Young, corporal Thos. Hughes, P. Furber. J. Morrisey, Wm. Allright, scouts; and the third patrol "Morepork Patrol," consisting of Geoffrey Thomas, Patrol leader, Herbert Cassey, corporal, Norman Allright, Tame Poutu, Aubrey Taylor, Redvers Furber, scouts. Inspcetor Campbell put the boys through a series of drill movements and afterwards through some field work.
