Following the evasions of the immi* gration law by the Chinese at Vancouver, the Dominion Trade Department has ordered that in future no certificates in the Chinese language will be accepted for admission purposes. Departing Chinamen must produce an admission certificate, on a penalty of 500 dollars. A poll-tax is the alternative. Deportation photographs will be taken. The utilising of the Bertillion system is under consideration.
