The light in the conservatory was soft. And so was Archibald —on Ermyntrude. "One," he murmured— ■'"just oue J Why not ?" She cast her eyes down coyly to the ground. "But," responded Ermyntrude, nervously plucking to pieces the petals of a priceless orchid—"but there are microbes in kisses." The playful plashing of the fountain mingled harmoniously with the low, deep voice of the young man. "I know," he murmured passionately ; "'but uiy microbes are so lonely !" '
