DEATH OF A MINER.
[llY 'HiLKGIIAIMt. I'RKSS ASSOCIATION.] Greymouth, This Day. A miner named James Baker, aged 60, who was working yesterday in the State colliery at Pilars, met with fatal injuries through a fall of the roof, lt'occupied over two hours to extricate him, owing to the roof continuing to fall and rendering it difficult to rescue him. He was got out at 3.30 p.m. and removed to the hospital, but succumbed. He leaves a widow and five children, the youngest only a few months old.
