Miss Pine'i./new for music, painting commences on September iythlf The Waikato-Maniapoto Maori Land Board will sit in Auckland on September 19th. In the last issue of the "Gazette" it is notified that four acres of land have been taken under the "Public Works Act"at Marakopa, for the purposes of a native school. A hitching post has been erected in King street, near the "Chronic.e" office. It should be useful to visitors from the country who come in on horseback. The Government has decided to retain the Vice-Regal residence at Auckland, and divide the grounds there, giving 32 acres for University purposes. The Vice-Regal residence will be renovated and refurnished for use of the Governor. —Press Association. The following have been "Gazetted" as members of the Kawhia Domain Board:—E. H. Schnackenberg, J. K. Newton, J. Crotty, T. F. Gibbons, A. E. Langley, G. G. Jonathan, G. H. Chase, W. S. Morgan and C. C. Jenkins. At the Exchange Rooms on Saturday Mr J. R. Graham will Bell turkeys, pigs, produce, furniture drapery and sundries. On the occasion of the opening of the "Cottage" tea rooms on Tuesday afternoon, Miss Craig gave a small "At Home." Te I j Kuiti has one reserve now at all events. # The football match between the Maniupoto and Taumarunui representative Rugby football representatives, ■ which is to be played on the Domain : on Saturday next should prove to be an exciting game. When the teams met earlier in the season, at Taumaruj nui, the Maniapotos won by a small margin. As they will place in strong team in the field on Saturday next it ; can be confidently hoped that another ; win will be registered. As the gate money taken at this match is to be devoted to the funds of the Te Kuiti Domain Board and no doubt a very large number of spectators will be present, it is hoped the funds of the Domain Board will materially benefit thereby. Mr Roosevelt has sent to the National Museum at Washington his oilicial report summarising the natural history results of his African expedition. The bag consists of 4897 mammals, about 1000 beirg big-game animals, some 4000 birds, 2000 reptiles and batrachians, and 500 fishes from the White Nile and other waters. Some thousands of plants were also collected throughout the regions visited,
