The Slaughtermen's Union has accepted the agreement with the Pastoral and Finance Company, similar to Messrs Birt's two contracts, which absorbs about one hundred slaughtermen. KILLED AND EATEN. News has been received from the Bismark Archipelago that two natives, employed on a plantation near Wilhelmshiven, were surprised by a horde of savages and killed and eaten. The terms of the tram strike settlement are that ninety strikers return to their old positions and work in unison with the non-unionists who have been operating the ears during the past
four weeks. They will work under the Arbitration award, which they previously refused. The award provides a ninety-six hours' fortnight, and a shilling an hour.
