Melbourne, Last Night. The Hosue of Representatives has resumed the debate on the Land Tax Bill. Received September 7, 9.10 a.m. In the Plouse of Representatives the Land Tax Bill debate occupied the whole sitting, members of the Opposition reiterating that it would kief, for weeks. Mr Edwards said men would be taxed out of their property, and he designated it as wholesale robbery. Under correction he substituted in justice. The States would be forced into unification, as gradually they would have their revenue taken from them. The debate was adjourned. A deputation representing the pastoraiists, farmers and financial institutions waited on Mr Fisher and protested against the tax. Members argued it was found it drove money out of New, Zealand, and stated that one Melbourne street yielded .t'40,000 revenue. One big estate they knew of yielded ,£550 more than its income. Mr Fisher, in reply, said irresponsible people could make any estimates they pleased. The tax was not excessive. Land-owners should pay for their own defence. i
