CORRESPONDENCE.

[Letters for publication, and articles for insertion, must be accompanied (not necessarily for publication) , by the name of the writer, and", provided they are not offensive in any way, will be published as space permits. The Editor does not identify himself v.-i;h the opinions expressed by correspondents, and accepts no responsibility with them.] Dangerous Posts. To the Editor. Sir,—l should like to ask the Mayor if he could get the posts at the corners of the streets painted white, as at present they are extremely dangerous, not only to pedestrians, but to people riding and driving also. I walked into one the other night, and got hurt internally in consequence of not seeing them. If painted white they could be seen on a dark night.—l am, etc., RATEFAYER. Badly Formed Roads. To the Editor. Sir, —I think it is time for the powers that be to try and get the roads properly formed. A twelve-foot road wants at least a one-foot crown, with an equal fall on either side, and then the water keeps off it. I never saw any road with less than a nineinch crown on even dry ground or papa. Other places where I have worked this rule was strictly enforced. | I have worked with pick and shovel for forty-six years at all sorts of work, and I never saw anything so badly formed as these roads. What they mostly want is a good crown which will keep the water off them. —I am, etc., A. CURTIN. Wairere.
