TE KUITI DOG TRIALS.

A meeting was held in Mr E. J. Thomson's dining room, Te Kuiti, on Wednesday last, the object of the meeting being to consider the advisability or otherwise of holding dog trials in Te Kuiti. About twenty were present, and Mr J. B. Young was voted to the chair. After general discussion it was decided to form a club to be called the "Te Kuiti Dog Trial Club." The following officers were elected: —President, Mr N. B. Lusk; vicepresidents, Messrs J. Scott, E. Burnell, W. Thorns, J. Boddie, N. Rcbison, R. Cotter, Goldfinch, H. Matthew, A. Shannon, Barker, A. Sutherland, H. Voice and Houten. Mr R. S. McDonald was elected hon. secretary and treasurer. It was resolved that the committee consist of seven members, four to form a quorum. The following committee was appointed:— Messrs Old, Burnell, Sutherland, Somerville, O'Brien, W. Standish and G. Berry. Resolved that the members' fee be fixed at 10s 6d. It was resolved that Mr McDonald, of Dannevirke, be asked to judge the trials. Mr Harrison, of Karori, Wellington, who was present at the meeting, presented the club with a cheque for £5 5s to go to the dog scoring the highest number of points. Mr J. Old promised a gold medal value £2 2s to the best settler's dog on the ground. The goodly sum of £l3 16s 6d was subscribed in the room. The meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. A committee meeting of the above club was held in Messrs Gould and Hetherington's office on Thursday evening last. Present —Messrs >l. B. Lusk (president), Shannon, Houghton, Burnell, Old and the secretary. It was resolved that the secretary write to secretaries of other clubs asking the dates of their respective trials and all particulars. It was resolved that the club's banking account be opened at the Union Bank, and that the president and secretary be authorised to sign cheques. Resolved that the secretary and Mr Shannon should wait upon the Te Kuiti sports committee at their next meeting and endeavour to arrange to hold the dog trials and sports meeting in the same week. Mr Ilowarth was appointed hon. auditor to the club. It was decided to hold the next committee meeting on October sth, in MiThomson's dining rooms at 7 p.m.
