MILKING MACHINES INCREASE THE YIELD.

The recent report by a representative of the "Hawera and Normanby Star" of an interview with Mr T. McPhillips of Manaia Taranaki, is one of many striking exanmples where the L.K.G. Milking Machine appears not only to have maintained but to have actually assisted in producing a remarkable increase in the yield of butter fat. Mr McPhillips installed the L.K.G. Machine in 1907, and during the Season of 1907-S obtained 21,7G4lbs. of butter fat from 10S cows and heifers or an average of 201£lbs. per head. In 1908-9 the herd of 110 cows ar.d heifers gave 25,4471b5. or an average of 231 lbs. per head. In 1909-10 the same number of cows gave 30,0351b5. or 2731b5. per head. During the three years the L.K.G, Machines were in use there has been an increase of over 60lbs of butter fat per cow. Not only do these figures testify to the advantages of the milking machine, but they show what can be done in the way of practical dairy farming. With the right cows, the right machine, and the right man, dairy fanning to-day can be made the most profitable and pleasant industry under the sun. The right men ar° luckily not wanting, the right cows can be bred, and the right milking machine can be obtained on easy terms by application to J. B. MacEwan and Co., Ltd., Fort street, Auckland.*
