The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: — At Hamilton, on 4th inst., we had a yarding of 1547 sheep, 90 pigs, 136 fat cattle, and 350 store and dairy cattle. Fat wethers made 19s 6d to 20s 6d, fat and forward wethers 17s 6d, store and forward wethers 15s Id to 16s Id, fat ewes 12s 3d to 14s 6d, forward empty ewes 10s 8d to lis Id, store and cull ewes 5s to 8s Id, woolly hoggets, white faces lis to 13s Id, black faced woolly hoggets 10s 6d, shorn hoggets 12s to*'!2s 6d, fat hoggets 14s, extra good ewes, in lamb 225. good ewes in lamb 14s 3d to 17s 6d, weaner pigs 12s to 13s 6d, slips 14s to 275, heavy fat steers £ll ss, light weights £6 7s 6d to £8 ss, fat heifers £6 to £7, well-fattened cows £5 15s to £7 Is, medium cows £4 Iss to £5 10s, bulls and stags in good condition £4 15s to £7 Is, choice 18 month steers £3 7s to £3 17s 6d, store cows £2 15s to £3 Is, calves 31s to 375, best dairy heifers forward in calf £5 Is to £6 Is, backward and small heifers in calf £3 15s to £4 15s, empty heifers rising 2 years £3 to £3 Is, best dairy cows £6 to £7 10s, others £4 10s to £5 ss.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report;— At Cambridge, on Friday, sth inst., a full yarding of cattle and sheep came forward. The beef pens contained 254 fat steers and cows, stores 630. Beef made high prices, and except four pens of steers the whole entry was quitted. Young cattle were a trifle easier, but mostly sold. Fat steers made from £8 10s to £9 13s, lighter weights £7 to £7 10s, prime cows £7 to £9, good cows and heifers £5 17s 6d to £6 15s, medium cows £5 to £5 12s 6d, covv3 in fresh condition £3 to £3 15s, store cows £2 5s to £2 15s, 18 month to 2 year steers £3 12s to £3 16s, 12 months steers £2 14s, mixed yearlings £2 6s to £2 Bs, calves 36s to 445, 2 year empty heifers £2 17s 6d to £3 10s, yearling Holstein heife-s £2 10s, Shorthorn heifers 35s to 40s, f.m. ewes in lamb 13s to 15s, small hoggets 10s 6d, pigs, slips 18s to 235, weaners 10s to 14s, breeding sows £3.
We held our annual dairy cow sale at Cambridge on Saturday, 6th inst., and notwithstanding that heavy rain throughout the day there was a good attendance of buyers, and all the stock entered came forward. Well-grown 3 year heifers close to profit and good young cows elicited keen competition, but backward ones were neglected. Best heifers realised M 7s 6d to £B, others, less condition £5 5s to £6 10s, backward heifers £4 5s to £5, dairy cows, young and close to profit—Jerseys £9 to £lO, Shorthorns £6 12s 6d to £7 15s, others more aged £ 4 l?s to £6 2s 6d, cull cows £2 l£s to £3 10s,
