The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report: —

At Ohaupo on Tuesday, July 19th, we yarded 450 head of cattle and 1250 sheep. Three year steers in forward condition made up to £7, 2 year do. £4 15s, well-grown calves, steers £2 7s to £2 12s, heifers up to £2 13s mixed calves 32s to 40, empty cows £2 16s to £3 lis 6d according to condition, springing heifers £5 to £6 15s, dairy cows £6 to £7 2s 6d, woolly hoggets lis 6d to 12s 9d, f.m. ewes in lamb 15s 7d, empty ewes 8s Id to 9s.

We held our annual dairy cow sale at Hamilton on Wednesday, 20th inst., when more than the advertised number of cows and heifers came forward. Dairy cows to calve August and September made £6 10s to £S 10s, one whole dairy of 35 cows realised £8 10s all round, 3 year heifers of good quality £6 12s 6d to £8 10s, smaller do. £5 to £6 7s Gd, more backward £4 2s 6d to £4 15s, dairy cows outside whole dairies £5 to £7 according to age, cull cows £3 2s 6d to £4 10s.

At Hamilton on Thursday, we had a medium yarding of sheep and cattle, which mostly sold at good prices at auction or afterwards. Fat cows made £6 5s to £7 3s, lighter weights £5 to £5 15s, fat heifers £5 10s to £6 12s, 2 year steers £4 4s, 20 month steers £3 7s to £3 9s, well grown steer caives £2 5s to £2 14s, mixed calves 35s to 40s, choice heifers £2 ss, fat ewes 15s 3d to 16s. Pigs: Weaners 8s to 10s, slips 13s to porkers £1 Si, breeding sows £4, At Te Awamutu on Saturday we held the first sale in the new yards, when we submitted 630 head ot cattle and 900 sheep. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of Waikato and King Country, and the stock being of good quality there was brisk competition through and nearly everything sold at auction: Fat steers made £8 7s Cd to £9 l-ss, lighter weights £7 17s 6d to £8 2s 6d, fat cows £5 10s to £7, fat heifers £6 10s, empty cows in fresh condition £3 to £3 12s 6d, store cows £2 10s to £2 15s, steer calves £2 10s to £2 12s, mixed 35s to 425. Holstein heifer calves £2 16s to £3, 2 year steers £4 ss, 3 year do. £4 16s to £5 lis, grown steres £6 to £6 12s, fat wethers 225, f.m. ewes in lamb lis to 12s, hoggets 9s to 13s, weaner pigs 10s 6d to 13s, porkers 19s to 20s, waggon £2l, 2 aged draught horses £2O ss.
