YOUNG MAORI PARTY.

The Young Maori Party is steadily working away in its efforts to raiie the Maori race physically, intellectu* ally, socially and spiritually, and with that object is now endeavouring to form a branch of the Party in thi King Country. Mr J. A. Ormsby, junr., who attended the annual conferw ence last year, in the course of his remarks, said he thought it would be advisable to hold the next annual conference in the King Country, with a vie'w to advertising the movement, and by inducing those who are rather inclined to be indifferent, to interest thenadves in it. The conference decided that if Mr Ormsby could give them any reasonable grounds why the conference should be held in the King Country, the executive would consider the matter at its next meeting. Mr Ormsby is therefore endeavouring to form a strong branch of the movement cither at Olorohanga or Te Kuiti, and when he has dono so, will give this, together with the fact of the King Country being Native territory, as reasons why the conference Bhould be transferred. A number of chiefs have been conferred with on the matter of forming a branch in the King Country, and they are favourably disposed toward? it. A large meeting will therefore be called at an early date lq discuss the matter. The probabilities , me that Te Kuiti will be adopted ai the centre for die holding of the next annual conference.
