Ohura Road Logic.
To che Editor. Sir, —I would like to point out what to me seems a very inconsistent action on the part of the Ohura County Council. At a meeting held about three months ago, the Council refused to spend a Government grant of £l5O on the Tongaporutu-Mangaroa road, the reason given, being that the Government having men working that road could spend it more economically. At a subsequent meeting it was resolved thai the Council ask the Government for £2OO to spend on the same roa'. Now, what I would like to know is, if the Council cannot spend £l5O as economically as the Government can (although they are spending two grants of about £IOO each on adjoining roads) do they think they can spend £2OO more economically, or what is the matter? I hope the Councillor for the riding will explain— I am, etc., WAITANGA.
