Mangapehi.

On Saturday 30th April the Rangaroa (Taumarunui) Tennis Club sent down a team to try conclusions with the local club. Although so late in the season, the day was a perfect one for tennis, and a thoroughly enjoyable day was spent. The visitors succeeded in securing three out of five sets in the first round, beating the Mangapehi players by the narrow margin of one point. Rangaroa scored 215 points against 214. As there was plenty of time a second round was commenced with the order of players slightly changed. In this, Mangapehi managed to secure two sets out of three, scoring 159 points against 150. The visitors were entertained with morning tea at Mrs J. W. Orr's, dinner at Mr Butler's boardinghouse and afternoon tea' on the courts. They returned to Taumarunui by the 5 o'clock train, expressing themselves as delighted with their day's outing. This match has practically closed the season locally, and the only play that will be indulged in during the next four or five months will probably be on a fine Saturday afternoon.
