N.Z. FARMERS' UNION.
At :i meeting of the Waiuku branch, held last week, it was decided to mako a canvass of the district for members. Ruruita for conference were brought up for discussion iv.v\ will be finally dealt with at the April meeting. It wan resolved that various branches of the Union be asked to form separate committees to organise the Breeders' and Graziers' Association, presumably to work in connection with the Farmers' Union. At Auckland, same week, there was only a fair attendance, owing to a very wet night. The Gisborne resolution re grading of meat was approved of. Fooled orders for oO tons of manure were handed in to the secretary. Mr Delaney, the chairman, accompanied by the secretaiy, Mr J. Hamilton, made a canvass of the district and added 40 members to the roll. At the regular monthly meeting of the Pukekoho branch some twenty members were present. The secretary, Mr U. Hamilton, reported that a resolution was passed in favour of the Gisborne remit re grading by Government inspector of frozen meat. Fourteen signatures were handed mi for pooled orders of bonodust. A resolution from Taranaki executive condemning the methods employed by Ihe Government State Fire Insurance Department by the improper use of confidential information supplied from the Advances to Settlers' Department has been received by the Provincial executive. Mr Schmitt, at the request of the Mahoenui branch, waited upon Mr Furby, Chief Inspector of Telegraphs, re telephone connection between Mahoenui and Paemako. It was recommended that the settlers be advised to send a petition when it would receive every consideration.
