PIO PIO.

Own Correspondent., A basket social in aid of the new organ recently purchased for the church services was held in Miroahuiao Hall on Wednesday, March 23rd The combined treat of a beautiful moonlight night and good roads brought together a nice gathering of settlers from the surrounding neighbourhood, some visitors even driving from Te Kuiti. Rev. Mitchell, of Te Kuiti, occupied the chair and presented a varied programme which wa) received well. The sale of baskets brought with them their usual fund of amusement which reached the climax when the contents of a certain basket procured by a local bachelor was revealed. After supper a social dance was indulged in at which the young folk enjoyed themselves immensely. Great praise is due to the ladies who got the evening up and prepared the baskets which were far above the average in taste for decoration and quality. A special word is due to Mrs Rawstron who supervised the whole arrangements and did the lion's share of the work. The following was the programme: —Organ solo, "Easter at Rome," Mrs Elliott; song, "Doreen," Mr Livingstone; recitation, "The Road to Heaven," Mr Elliott; song (comic), "A Wee Scotch Dummy," Mr Pettigrew; violin solo, "Life let us Cherish," Mrs Rawstron; duet, "Tell her I Love her So," Mrs Elliott and Miss Alma Mossman; song, "Love's Old Sweet Song," Mr Houghton; recitation, "The Last Shot," Mr Goodwin; song, Good Company," Mr Harold Smith; song (coon), Mr E. Butcher; instrumental solo (selected), Mr Asplin; song, "Sing me to Sleep," Miss Alma Mossman; duet, "Ora Pro Nobis," Mr and Mrs Elliott. The following ladies donated baskets: — Miss McKane, Mrs J.
