Annual Meeting, The annual meeting of the subscribers of the above library was held on January 31st, -Mr H. Y. Collins occupying the chair. The balance sheet and report was adopted. The income from all sources was £45 Is 4d. The expenditure has /been £36 10s. 9d, leaving a credit balance in hand of £8 10s 7d. The number ol; books now on shelves is 2565, an increase of 140 over last year. The library suffered a severe loss in the removal of the late chairman, Mr Yause, to Auckland, and also in losing the services of Miss Yause as librarian. Miss May Andrew was appointed as librarian and has satisfactorily discharged the duties of that office. The number or subscribers is about the same as last yesr. The rc-ading room maintains its popularity, and is well pati-onised by visitors and residents.
The following officers were appoined for the present year: —President, Mill. J. Greenslade, M.P.; Vice-presi-dents, Messrs J. Cottrell, P. O'Connor, W. Taylor and E.I. Millar; Committee, Messrs J..L. Mandeno, H. Y. Collins, G. 11. White, D. Bockett, Rev. Wooilass, and two members of the To\vn_ Eoard to be elected by that, body. A vote of thanks was passed to the outgoing officers. At a subsequent meeting of the committee the chairman was instructed to write to Mrs Ahier requesting that the Cinderella performance be repeated on behalf of the library funds.
