Shackleton's Dash for the Pole Pictures.

On Wednesday, February 2nd, at the Town Hall, Te Kuiti, Spencer's Theatrescope Company inaugurate a season of one night when the present world's star attraction will be exhibited —namely, "Shacldeton's Dash for the Pole" pictures. This series depicts the many hardships, adventures, and perils of the exploration party, right from the time o p the departure of the Nimrod for polar regions from Lyttelton up to their return again. The pictures are said to be a "masterpiece" of moving photography; in fact, many faces in the pictures are easily recognisable. The work of Sir Ernest Shackleton and those associated with him was so warmly appreciated in New Zealand that the pictures referring to it should be an event of considerable interest. In addition to the Antarctic subjects, many others will be shown. One that should lend quite an interest to us on "this side" is one of the company's own productions, entitled "Winter Carnival Sports on Mount Kosciusko." Portion of this picture was taken by moonlight, "the first of its kind in the world," and it should prove interesting. It has many humorous moments attached.
