IS DAN KELLY DEAD?

Dr. Fitchett's story of the Kelly Gang takes rather a humorous turn in the February issue of "Life," which ia just to hand. In this number, exSuperintendent Sadlier, who led tho police, and Sergeant Steele, who actually captured Ned Kelly, give their own accounts of the pursuit and capture; and there is other correspondence, including a letter signed "Dan Kelly," in which tho writer indignantly denies that he was killed at Glcnrowan, and adds, "Ned only said that so that I could get away; I. am still living and well." Side by side with the Kelly Gapg is another of thp adventures of papain Hayes, tliP notorious South Seas bpccancer, vyhojp Albert DorringtflP is per|;ain]y waking an attractive scamp. He js quite an entertaining in his way as E. W v Ilornung's gentlemanly burglar "Rallies," while his firwt mate, Bill Ilowe, is a decided improvement upon the apologetic Bunny. A gem of a story in this number is contributed by a New Zealand writer, Miss .Jennie Mackay, who, in "The Gossamer Madam," displays a charming touch and an intimate knowledge of tho period of which she writes. There are other first-class stories, and an exceptionally good set of special articles and sketches, including a finely-illustrated review of the progress of airships up to date. In tho history of the month, Dr Fitehett; gives a capital summing up of tho fight over the British Budget, and a bright review of the month's events at Home and Abroad. In this department ia the best portrait we have seen of Mr Will Crooks, and this is accompanied by a first-class pen picture of that rough diamond by James Dougi las. It would require too much space to attempt any review of the hundred and one subjects covered in the departments departments which iftafcq "Life" the jtjcfil' fo}:. average mVpi apd woiijjfii. "
