DISTRICT PARS.

The next sitting of the Magistrate's Court at Te Kuiti will be held on Thursday and Friday next: On Thursday next Mr C. B. Lever will hold a clearing sale of furniture on account of Mrs Anderson, who is leaving the district. This is a firstclass lot of furnituure and well worth the attention of anyone wanting to add to their household effects.

We are pleased to chronicle the arrival of a new settler at Te Kuiti in the person of Mr K. A. Gillanders, who is accompanied by his wife and a family of eleven. Mr Gillanders, who is a recent arrival from the Old Country, has taken up a block of 1500 acres at Waiteti, about four miles from Te Kuiti, and is building a good house on the place. Although only in occupation of his holding a few weeks, Mr Gillanders is already making a start to break in the property. A fire occurred in the Ohura Valley under suspicious circumstances on December 27th, and on Tuesday last Constable Owen, of Ongarue, effected the arrest of a mna named Reece Nicholson at Mangapehi in connection with the affair. The accused is to be _charged with arson. On Wednesday evening last when being driven in Rora Street, Te Kuiti, Mr Boddie's horse took fright, and turning into Sheridan Street ran the trap into Mr Kerr's fence. The vehicle was upset, and Mr Boddie was thrown out, sustaining a severe shaking. The vehicle sustained no damage, and the horse, which is usally a very quiet animal, was subsequently driven home.

On Friday the 14th instant, Dalgety and Co., Ltd., hold their stock sale in the Cambridge yards, and will offer 300 4 and 6-tooth forward wethers, 100 2-tooth wethers, and 280 head of cattle. Included in the latter are 150 good calves. Particulars of the sale appear in the advertising columns of this issue.
