TE AWAMUTU.
Own Correspondent. Bishop Lenihan opened the new, and first. Catholic church in Te Awaroulu on Sunday last. There was a very large congregation, and the sot-imn ceremonies of dedication ar.d consecration were roost impressively coralucted by His Lordship. Paring his sermon the Bishop congratulated the Rev. Father Lynch the parish priest, on the splendid work done throughout the parish. It was, indeed, pleasing tc biro to know, as was evidenced by the budding of such a handsome little church, that the priest and congregation were working so harmoniously. They had also secured a most valuable piece of property. Bishop Lenihan also acknowledged the assistance received from non-Catholics. The day's offertories amounted to £6B 10s. Mass was also celebrated, and the sacrament of confirmation administered by the Bishop to several candidates. The handsome attar, made of rimu and kauri, finished in oil, and of Gothic pattern, was presented by the Kev. Father Lynch.
