The usual subscription list in connection with the providing of Christmas gifts for the patients in the Ydailmto district Hospital has been forwarded by Mrs W. A. Graham of Hamilton. and shilling subscriptions will be received for the fund at the "Chronicle :; office. Many patients from the King Country have received the benefit of treatment in the Hospital and there will be good support to such a deserving object. Mrs Mac Donald, stationer and fancy goods dealer wishes to draw attention to her stock of Christmas goods which has just come to. hand. A splendid collection of Christmas cards includes a wide variety suitable for all tastes and purses, while toys for boys and girls comprise every article dear to the youthful hearfl* The adult fancy is also well catered for with all manner of useful and ornamental articles. In the stationery department are to be found office requisites of every description, while the selection of library books in stock is excellent both in number and quality. The fancy work section is well stocked with handsome goods and material for all kinds of art needlework. In the published list of acceptances fore the Te Kumi races the name of Titihi was inadvertently omitted. The horse was accepted for and the owner intends to start him. We are informed that the express trains which will leave Taumarumui at 8.33 a.m., Te Kuiti 11.5 a.m. and Frankton at 2.25 p.m. will all stop at Hangatiki. This information wiii he of value ot the residents of Te Kuiti and surrounding districts, who contemplate a visit to the far famed Waitomo Caves. No doubt, from the fact of these express trains stopping at Hangatiki the WaitomoCaves will now become more widely known and will receive a large influx of visitors. The opinion has been expressed by those who are capable of judging that these caves are the finest of their kind in the world. So no doubt Waitomo will nowbecome one of the most popular tourist resorts in the Dominion, a position which it certainly merits. Mr R. Fenton, jeweller, Te Kuiti wishes to call attention to his replace advertisement which appears in this issue. A splendid selection of goods suitable for Christmas presents has just been opened up, and Mr Fenton cordially invites the public of Te Kuiti and surrounding districts to call and inspect the same. Mr Jennings, member for the district, has received the following letter from the Postmaster-General with respect to the establishing of telephone bureaux in the district: —"Dear Sir, — Referring to your enquiry I have the honour ot inform you that in connection with the metallic telephone circuit, Te I Kuiti-Hamilton the following bureaux has have been opened: —Otorohanga, Aria, Mangapehi, Paemako, Te Kuiti, Mairoa, As regards Piopio, Hangatiki, Oparure and Waitomo Caves, the Post- : master, at Piopio has agreed to find accomodation, and the bureau wiii be opened shortly.
