PAEMAKO.
| Own Correspondent. The Bachelors' Ball held onder the auspices of the bachelors of the sortounding districts eventuated on Friday night in the f scmako school, and was a great success, in fact one of the best that has been held here, the only thing which was wanting being floor space. Aboot 40 couples attended and though the school was so small and the people so crowded together on enjoyable evening was spent. The lone bachelors earned the gratitude of a large number of their lady friends and others by providing a capital evening's enjoyment. The supper was well arranged, the tables being foil to overflowing with the good things proviped, and justice was done to it by one and all. Visitors were present from Aria. Mairoa, Mangaotaki and Mabeenoi, and tco moch praise cannot be given to Mr R. Fitapatricfc. the bon. secretary for the way hj» which he looked after the comfo-t of the visitors, and to the successful issue of the function. We are enjoying splendid weather and as our roads have dried op the settlers are enabled to get aboot without being bogged. tt is hoped that this sommer some effort will be made by the Government to metal some of the mod holes, and not. at usual, leave them till winter and then to shovel on mod and ti-tree fascines. Our district is looking well at present there being plenty of feed and all the stock are doing well.
