THE KING COUNTRY CHRONICLE. THURSDAY, NOV. 4, 1909 PIOPIO DAIRY FACTORY.

THE announcement that tbe directors of tbe Poipio Dairy Factory have completed the necessary financial arrangements for the carrying on of their project is satisfactory in the extreme. The season for work is about to commence and the wisdom of carrying out the contract for instailling the plant, in summer is undeniable. The directorate is therefore undertaking its labours under the most favourable conditions, and with judicious and careful management there is little doubt that tbe Piopio factory will be a success from the beginning. Too much importance cannot be placed upon the starting of the dairying industry in the district, and many of our settlers wlil hove cause to rejoice that the opportunity was provided for the earning of a ready and assured income, unaffected by the fluctuations of markets. Reference need not be made to tbe stability and importance of an industry which has meant so much in the settlement of the Dominion. It is practically the only method by which the small settler can derive a tufficient income to make his flection pay. Settlers in and around Piopio are thus being provided with means for progress and it is to be hoped full advantage will be taken of the opportunity. It is gratifying to know that co-operation is the principle adopted by tbe settlers, and the very knowledge that each settler by helping the project is not only working for his own benefit, but for the mutual benefit of himself and bis neighbours, should inspire bim to his best efforts. We have every confidence in tbe future of the Piopio Factory. Founded on the right lines, and beginning under the happiest auspices, there is every prospect ahead for a prosperous future.
