PIO PIO.

Own Correspondent.

The Settlers' Picnic and Social meeting as advertised was held here last Saturday afternoon. There was a fair atteoiance, almost every district concerned being represented. Mr Sincock was voted to the chair and pointed out bow an anonal picnic was always looked forward to by 'he settlers, their wives and children, not only on account of tbe day's outing which it afforded them, but also for the good feeling and sociability which was always to be found there; and that this year the committee must endeavour to have the picnic surpass anything held here before. After mucb discussion it was decided to hold tbe picnic on Boxing Day, the 27th December, to be followed that evening by a social. A strong committee was then appointed who, with their past experience, will undoubtedly bring the function off with credit. ATneetingof tbePiopio Cricket Club being also called for, discussion then took place as to the advisability of again starting the Club. Tbe Chairman moved, seconded by Mr Slines, that tbe Piopio Cricket Club continue and that a practice be held at an caudate. This motion was put to the meeting and carried unanimously. A hearty vote of thanks to the chair terminated tbe meeting.
