ANNUAL BALL.

Though the evening was not a very suitable otte for dancing, Mrs Cross's plain and fancy dress annual ball, held in the Te Kuiti Hall, was a great success. Over forty couples at tended, and the hall looked very gay, the charming dresses worn by the ladies making a pretty picture. The many fancy dresses of both ladies and gentlemen also tended to give the room a nice appearance. and combined with good music by Messrs Cross, Hetet and Saunders, and a perfect floor, Mrs Cross has every reason to view with satisfaction the effort she made to make her first annual ball the unbounded success that it was. The chief feature of the evening was the grand march, in which about 3d couples took part, and it was a pleasing sight to see the different fancy costumes intermingled with the other beautiful dresses when the music started for the first dance.
